Matthew 6:33, NKJV: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
We have to make a choice who to serve. If you seek the kingdom, then you will be compelled to follow his laws or rules and do what is pleasing to The Most High. You will cultivate a relationship with him, which is a spiritual thing. Prayer is important and so is a deeper understanding of His Word (The Scriptures), obeying His Law (Torah), and the means for salvation: repentance of sins.
There are many things to understand, and I found it best to get views from a few sources to help cement things and aid the Bible Study.

Joshua 24:15, KJV: And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
